Our brown ash baskets are made in the traditional way. Each square inch
of a clear brown ash log is carefully pounded to separate the annual layers
or rings of the tree. Depending on its thickness, each layer is then hand
cut into narrow weavers or wide upright strips for a basket.
Most of our wood are harvested from the forests of Maine.
We purchase high quality leather from a local Maine tannery for our basket straps.
Care of Baskets
Keep your baskets out of the weather and away from rodents.
If you want the brown ash to stay flexible and strong,
heat up some Boiled Linseed Oil and brush it onto the basket,
then let dry. Use food grade oil if you will be harvesting mushrooms, berries, etc.
Oiling the basket will give it a darker color and make it more flexible.
